These four large (5ft x 4ft) semi-abstract canvases representing the four evangelists, combined with the four elements, and with reflections by Rosalind O’Melia were first shown at Melbourne Festival in the Parish church in 2010, then at Southwell Minster in 2011. A rethinking of the traditional symbols for Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (human, lion, bull and eagle) each also explores aspects of the divine which each gospel emphasises, linking in with ideas of creation and the natural world.
